Long time no see....
Really much stuff is going on right now. I`m doing my finals now and will graduate from school in June. I haven`t had so much time to write blogposts cause I had to learn and blabla....
But now since I`ll graduate, THE big question came up: "What will I do after school? and Where?"
And honestly I still have no idea. The only thing I know is, that I want to go somewhere, not staying here in the town you lived in for almost 20 years now. And 2 months ago I heard something about a thing called WWOOF!The full name is: World Wide Oppurtunities on Organic Farms. Basically what you do is, travelling through a country and working on organic farms as a volunteer and live with the family. To contact the farms you have to register yourself to the Wwoof community( which costs about 50 $ for a single and 62$ for a joint membership). You`re then registered for two years. And then you can start and organisate your adventure.....
Every country has their own Wwoof community. But of course you can register yourself to as many countries as you want. So if you`re registered for the USA you can only wwoof in the USA.
What I really like about tit and what convinced me was, that YOU can organisate your own, individual trip! You`re not bond on rules ( Only the Wwoof quidelines), like you would be if you go abroad with a specific Organisation. Also you only have to pay the membership! And of course the flights and transportation costs (And of course accomondation if you want to stay in a city for a few days), cause the farms are -suprise- usually in the middle of nowhere ! ;)
You are volunteering at the farms, therefore you won´t get money but you can stay with the family in their homes and get food with them for free, or more for your work. So its kinda like give and take :)
And I think its something different than doing an au pair year or go to a language school etc. Its more like work and travel only that you don´t get money. And since I made an exchange year in Finland in class 11, I`m really into the fact, that we`ll be living with the families together!
I have never worked on a farm so I`m very excited how I will do and if its something for me xD
But now, I haven´t told you yet WHERE I am going and if I`m going alone ;)
At the time I heard about WWOOF, my friend Valerie was with me and she is kinda in the same situation than me and we both totally fall for the idea of wwoofing! So we decided that we`ll be doing it togehter!
And our chosen country is........CANADA!
Yeah thats right :P We`ll be wwoofing through WHOLE Canada in half a year!!!! and I´M SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Canada has always been a country I wanted to visit and only 96 days left till we`ll leave for, propably the BIGGEST ADVENTURE in our lives! So far we have booked our flights, our hostel in Toronto, where we gonna start our journey and we already have 4 commitments from farms where we can stay!!! As I said, we start in Toronto and than woofing through the country till we ,hopefully, reach Vancouver. And than we`ll go across the border to America and will be visiting Seattle and San Francisco!!!Whoop Whoop!!
WoW and just the fact that 3 months ago I had totally no idea what I should do is just so....waaah :)) At the moment I`m just so happy and everything works out how we planned it!!!
Also another thing, which makes me so so excited and sure that this year is going to be the greatest year of my live, so far is, that before I`ll leave I`ll go on vacation with my family to another country I wanted to visit so so basly. ICELAND!!!! OMG how great, awesome, nice, cool, exciting, wonderful is that????? And don´t forget my short trip to ITALY with my friends in June! SHIT, I`m going to be a globetrotter this year :)
I just can`t wait to leave........
