Iceland

So last thursday I came back from my 2 weeks adventure on Iceland! I guess I don`t have to say, that it was great :P
I had such a good time with my mom and my brother and Iceland is just so awesome!
I mean where else you can spot a vulcano, a glacier and the ocean at the same time??
We rent a car and drove the so called " ring road" around the Island, which is pretty much what every Tourist does but yeah....it`s the biggest street and almost every sight is located at least near this street!
Also you`re not allowed to drive into the highland with a rental car.
But yeah I don`t know where to start :D
Here is the way we drove, except we drove straight to Reykjavik from Borganes and didn`t do the detour to Reykholt.


I don´t want to write now EVERY daytour we made, otherwise it would be a veeeeeery veeeery long Blogpost( I guess it still will be :D) but here are some of my Highlights: ( btw it was really hard to choose cause every place we visited is so unique and the landscape changed so much, that you really can`t compare them!)

• The first Highlight was definitely the whole south Coast. The landscape was characterized by many waterfalls ( like the famous Skogarfoss,Skaftafell etc.), vulcanos ( only mentoning the Eyjafjallajökull) and the pretty black beaches.

 

• Actually the Vatnajökull is also located along the south coast but the scenery of Europes largest glacier was so breathtaking it has to be its own Highlight :) Of course we didn´t see the whole glacier. I mean you cant`t see the whole one, it`s way too big but we visited two glacierlagoons( One is the Jökulsarlon)

• The next one is the whole area of Myvatn in the North of the Island. Myvatn is also a volcanoregion and everywhere hot, stinky Sulfur vapor was coming out of the earth and mud bubbled in holes.

• Then our way led us to Husavik where we made a whale watching tour and.....guys... we saw sooooo many whales, it was unbelievable!!! I mean at first I was really skeptical but wooow my expectations were exceeded!!!! The whales came so close to our boat and were really relaxed. It was just so awesome to see one of the biggest animals on earth in real life :)

• Than of course the famous golden circle, which is obviously Icelands most famous Sight( next to Reykjavik^^). There was the Thingvellir National Park, the famous Geysir and the Gullfoss waterfall. I always wanted to se the scenery of the Thingvellir, I don´t know why but the three houses( which are actually a Hotel) and the church, where the first Parliament was established, always fascinated me. Also it marks the the cest of the Mit-Atlantic Ridge

• And than last but not least: Reykjavik. I love this City! It so cute and small and colourful! It reminds me a lot of a finnish City and I just like the atmosphere in the scandinavian cities. Also our visit to the blue lagoon was really nice! I always wanted to swim there. The water was really hot but ist a good place to end your Holiday :)



 

All in all it was one of the best Holidays I had and I`m so thankfull that my mom made this trip with us :) And by the way only 10 DAYS till I leave for Canada !!!!!
